Wd my book live direct connect to pc, Hello, I need to connect my MBL directly to my PC via wired Ethernet connection. I do no have access to a router, switch or hub. I have being. If I want to connect the My Book Live to my computer directly, instead of wirelessly through the router, is it OK to simply unplug the ethernet. I have a Western Digital MyBookLive which is accessed wirelessly via our router. I keep all our files there, so both my wife and myself can access them. List of all WD firmware and software available for download. when i connect the WD drive ethernect cable to the router LAN ethernet ports 1-5 there are were no lights on the router as it seems that it does not recognize that there is something plugged in. its able to recognize everything else except the WD drive. and cannot access the drive directly as it needs a LAN connection to access the settings.
